This new way of volunteering was created as part of a two day hackathon on social innovation. We were imagining what would volunteering look like if you directly help people in need and could do it when you had time.
Imagine if when you had a moment to spare you could find someone nearby who needed it.
In two short days we designed the complete app. We built a web app version of the volunteer flow, while somewhat basic it communicated the main functionality. We also completely prototyped a “person in need” flow, trying to communicate more nuance in motion and ultimately how the app should feel.
We are hoping to approach a number of local not-for-profits to partner with us on a pilot program. Partnering with local organization with an existing network of “people in need” and volunteers would remove the privacy and security concerns of the app.

Our hope is that after a we find an organization to start a short pilot we will be able to work expand and work with other organizations.
